This is a lotus soup served at King Puli Restaurant in Puli, Taiwan.
When it first arrived at the table,
I thought it was a delightful shade of emerald green.
And the flower garnish? A nice touch.
But when the slivers of what I thought were translucent onions
turned out to have eyes…it was game over.
(If you have any idea what these creatures actually are, please let me know.
They’ve haunted me ever since.)
